The Southmoreland School District encompasses an area of approximately 49 square miles in southern Westmoreland County and northern Fayette County in Southwestern Pennsylvania. It includes the municipalities of East Huntingdon Township, Scottdale Borough, Everson Borough and Upper Tyrone Township. The district currently provides educational offerings to approximately 2,200 students on three sites. Southmoreland Primary Center, in Alverton provides instruction to our students in Kindergarten and First Grade. The students in Grades Two through Five attend the newly renovated Southmoreland Elementary School, in Scottdale. Sharing the Scottdale site is the newly constructed Southmoreland Middle School, attended by students in Grades Six through Eight. Finally, students in Grades Nine through Twelve matriculate at the Southmoreland High School in Alverton.
